Low Vision-Day

In order to fulfill our case-portfolio we visited the biggest low vision centre in the world! It is located near our Eyehospital in Kungsholmen and is divided in three departments: senior, adult and child low vision. We had the opportunity to follow a former student of Optometry during the examination. It was an absolutely interesting day and we learned many new things about the swedish healthcare system concerning low vision patients.

Common dinner :)

Yes we love food! From time to time, one of the kitchens in our building is crowded with people from all over the world. Everyone brings a dish and we share. This is a perfect way to get to know different food from different countries and cultures and to socialise.

ABBA Museum

‘Global Friends’ – a student community for exchange students-  regularly organizes and offers all kinds of activities. We were lucky and snatched a spot to visit the ABBA-museum. Beside a lot of interesting facts about the 4 members, the management and the band itself, the museum includes various fun attractions. Started with mixing your own ABBA song, followed by dancing and of course singing, by ending on the stage performing.

At  the end of the pediatric optometry course, we had the opportunity to examin the eyes of 1.5 – 6 year olds for 2 days. After theses days, several lectures and reading tons of literature, we successfully passed the exam. 🙂

spring made it to Stockholm

Finally spring has arrived! On Ascension-Day (Auffahrt) we did our first BBQ and enjoyed the sun with swedish summer temperatures up to 20°C. May has only started and the sun is already up from about 4am to 10pm.

Recently we visited a small historical town north of Stockholm. Sigtuna is one of the two oldest towns in Sweden! We had a nice stroll around the town and enjoyed the sunny weather and of the first  (almost) warm days.
